BJP workers demonstrate against Taliban
(PTI)

MUMBAI (2-3-2001): BJP activists on Friday demonstrated against the Taliban regime's demolition drive to break the historical Buddha statues in Afghanistan and burnt an effigy of Mulla Omar as a symbol of protest.

The demonstration was staged outside Churchgate station opposite western railway headquarters in south Mumbai, police said.

The activists raised anti-Taliban slogans and condemned it for "cultural carnage" hurting sentiments of millions of Buddhists all over the world.

BJP Mumbai unit president Vinod Tawade said the act of Taliban was not only "un-Islamic" but also "barbaric".
