uddhist monks at their pagoda in Phnom Penh on Monday show a copy of a newspaper which carries a declaration by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen saying "Islam and Buddhism are compatible". The Cambodian government appealed to Afghanistan's ruling Taliban to halt the destruction of pre-Islamic Buddhist statues in the country. (AFP)
